Our stake has transitioned to a new security system for our buildings called Kindoo. This is a phone application that allows access by scanning your phone at the door, similar to how key fobs were previously used. With this change, some questions have arisen. The following information addresses those questions.
The stake presidency expects the buildings to be used responsibly. Please be patient as we work through the challenges of implementing this new system.
The term "key" below refers to the access granted within the Kindoo system, not physical keys. That just seem to be the term most people use related to this new system.
When did this transition happen?
The transition began the first week of December 2025, with the Stake Center changing over the 2nd week of January 2026. Confusion is expected to be greater closer to that week. This is a new system for everyone, and patience is requested as we learn how to use it.
Why are we moving to this new system?
This change comes as a directive from the church. Securing our buildings is important. Fobs and physical keys have sometimes been distributed and not returned, resulting in uncertainty about who has access. There have been instances of individuals outside our stake retaining access. Moving to this app-based solution provides tighter control. Access is primarily based on callings, and when someone is released, their access is removed. This improves security by ensuring we know exactly who has access.
Who will have access by default?
Access is primarily determined by callings, and the list is limited.
Ward level:
Bishop and counselors
EQ, RS, SS, YW, and Primary Presidents and EQ, RS, YW, and Primary Councilors
Ward Building Representative (no Assistant Reps)
Activities Committee Chair
Primary Activity Days Leaders (3 per ward)
Accompanist
Stake level:
Stake Presidency, Stake Executive Secretary, Stake Clerk, Stake Finance Clerk
Stake High Councilors (12)
All Stake Auxiliary Presidents and first counselors
Stake Building Representative, Stake Technology Specialist
Women’s and Men’s Stake Athletics Coordinators
Stake Music Coordinator
On January 6, 2026 some adjustments were made from a previous list. Some callings were removed from the list (Ward Executive Secretary, Ward Clerks, Music Leader) in order to give additional access to organizations. We are only given a set number of keys per unit, so we are trying to move them to where we have received feedback that they are needed. We will continue to learn and adjust.
Can I borrow a key from someone or loan other my key?
No. Each key works only with a single device. If login information is shared and the system detects frequent device changes, the account/key will be locked.
If I do not have a key, how do I get access to the building?
Coordinate with someone who has a key to open the building. This may create additional burden for those with keys. Patience is requested from both those seeking access and those providing it.
